About Us

ABOUT US

Gator’s Bait Barn, formerly known as Leroy’s Bait & Tackle Shop, has proudly served the fishing and boating community since 1961. For decades, Leroy’s was a trusted local stop for anglers who valued quality gear, honest advice, and a shop that truly understood life on the water.

When it came time to carry this legacy forward, we took on the responsibility with care and respect. After a complete rebuild, the shop was reopened in just nine months, preserving the spirit of the original store while modernizing it to serve today’s customers. Our goal was simple: protect a local landmark and ensure it continues for generations to come.

A Legacy Rebuilt

Rebuilding Gator’s Bait Barn was more than restoring a building—it was about honoring the history behind it. Every decision was made with the future in mind, keeping the shop locally owned, community-driven, and rooted in the traditions that built it.

The Legend Behind the Name

The name Gator’s Bait Barn pays tribute to a well-known local legend a massive alligator named Bill who once lived in the vary building we rebuilt. Bill became part of local lore and a symbol of the wild, untamed character of the area. In his honor, our tattooed gator logo was created to reflect that bold spirit, blending tradition, toughness, and personality into the identity of the shop.

What We Carry

We proudly stock a wide range of locally sourced products and non-big box store items, alongside trusted national brands. From live bait and tackle to everyday boating and fishing essentials, we focus on gear that anglers and boaters actually use whether it’s a quick morning trip or a full day on the water.

Our Commitment

At Gator’s Bait Barn, we believe a great bait and tackle shop is built on relationships, not just inventory. We are committed to serving our community with integrity, dependable products, and knowledge earned through experience. As we move forward, our mission remains the same as it has been since 1961 to respect our roots, support local outdoor traditions, and keep this shop thriving for future generations.
