Inside Gator's Bait Barn — LeRoy's sign
Wylie, TX · Est. 1961

Our Minnows Swim Better Than Your Buddies!

North Texas' home for fresh live bait, quality tackle, and the proud legacy of LeRoy's Bait & Tackle — rebuilt for Wylie by Josh Taylor.

What We Stand For

The Barn's Values

Community First

We're not just a store — we're a gathering place for the Wylie fishing community. From early morning to close, this is where anglers talk shop, share tips, and get stoked for the next trip.

Family Owned

Josh Taylor built this store with his own hands and his own heart. Every product on our shelves is something he'd use himself. We treat every customer like family.

Local Knowledge

Lake Lavon, Ray Hubbard, Tawakoni — we fish these waters. When you ask what's biting, we'll tell you the truth, not just what sells.

Veterans Welcome

We proudly offer a discount for our veterans. Service to country deserves respect on the water too. Just mention your service when you come in.

The Legend Behind the Name

Named After
Bill the Gator.

Bill the alligator was found in the Trinity River around 2008 and brought to LeRoy's Bait & Tackle, where he became the store's most beloved resident — delighting customers for years from his habitat at the back of the building.

When Josh Taylor rebuilt the store in 2025, naming it Gator's Bait Barn was the obvious choice. Over 250 people showed up to the grand opening — a new generation finding the same bait shop their grandparents loved.
